do's & don'ts
Pre-appointment preparation
Do's
Arrive to your appointment 5 minutes before, free of eye makeup and clean lashes. Coming to your appointment with clean lashes allows for more time for the application of lashes, and ensures better retention. Lash extensions do not adhere to lashes that are not clean.
-
remove all eye makeup with an oil-free makeup remover at least 2 hours before your appointment
-
avoid applying creams or any oil-based products around the eyes before the appointment to ensure the best lash bonding
Do NOT:
-
curl your lashes before your appointment
-
wear contact lenses (wear glasses, or bring a case for your contacts)
-
drink caffeinated beverage prior to your appointment (your eyes will flutter, making application difficult). If possible, skip your coffee before.
Post-appointment lash care
Do's:
-
Brush, brush, brush!
-
Brushing your extensions at least 2-3 times a day will keep them looking neat and untangled – just like your hair!
-
*Avoid brushing too close to the lash line as you may pull the extensions out
-
-
CLEAN your lashes!
-
I can’t stress enough how important clean lashes are. Here’s why:
-
Improves retention because oil, dirt, debris will break down the adhesive
-
PREVENTs INFECTIONS (& lash mites!) – dirty lashes = unhealthy, lots of bacteria (gross!)
-
Improves the appearance – no crusting/dead skin cells on the lash line makes your lashes look oh so fresh! Volume fans also close when your extensions are not clean making them look less fluffy
-
-
Clean lashes with SS Beauty Studio’s oil-free lash foam and cleansing brush 1-2 times a day.
-
Do NOT:
-
Pull, rub, pick at your extensions
-
Use cotton on/near the lashes
-
Q-tips and cotton pad fibres will get caught in the extensions & is extremely difficult to remove
-
-
Apply mascara on, or curl the extensions
-
Sleep on your face - this causes poor retention & wonky/twisted lashes

Lash Lift Aftercare
-
Do not wet newly lifted lashes for the first 24 hours
-
you want to ensure that the lashes are properly set
-
avoid steam, products (ex. mascara) during this time
-
-
Sleep on your back the first night
-
you want to a avoid altering the lift as it is still setting
-
-
Do not use a lash curler during the time your lashes are lifted
-
Avoid water-proof mascara
-
Nourish and condition your natural lashes with coconut oil or a lash keratin serum to keep them healthy
